Yesterday marked a significant milestone for one of WOR's beloved Trucks. Truck #3, driven by Neill Heaton, collected her one millionth gallon of Waste Oil! As busy as we are here at WOR, it would be easy to let an event like this go by without notice, so leave it to one of our fearless leaders, Robert Mastrippolito, to remind us from where we came. Rob personally logged numerous hours and oil collection in Truck #3. The following is his history lesson about #3 and her significance to the success of this company.

A little history on Truck #3:
She has no name. Just "Truck #3". Because 3 is a magic number.
We bought her in the Summer of 2007 sight unseen ("Hi. do you sell vacuum trucks? Ok. We'd like one. Thanks.")
Jim drove her home from Indiana and straight to my house. His first day driving with air brakes, and he went 800 miles.
She was equipped with 4 50' sections of 2" hose.
Originally the hose was not pre-connected. It was piled up in the trays like a septic truck would haul its hose. We used to connect and disconnect after every stop. It made a huge mess.
We had no NewPig or hand wipes.
It used to take us seven or eight hours to wash her. With cold water in my moms driveway.
We used to use her to load tankers of finished product before we could afford pumps. It involved opening the back valve, letting it drip out overnight into buckets and fishing out all the solids with a coat hanger. Then we'd fill her with 1500 gallons, pump out through a screen into the tanker. Four times to make up a load. It used to take HOURS... Wes can fill a tanker with his pump in about 45 minutes.
Her first week in service involved picking up EVERY single account we had. She did the work in one week that it took us a month to do with the Ford van or the old Iveco flatbed.
One time the wiring for the work lights shorted out and go so hot it melted the air brake lines under the dash and Jimmy had to drive home from Philly at midnight with vise grips and duct tape over as many leaks as possible, and she still kept going and stopping. He also did this with the air seat completely deflated too.
Truck #3 bought and paid for herself, and the other trucks. If it wasnt for Truck 3, Waste Oil Recyclers would be nowhere near what we are at the present time. Imagine picking up all the grease we do by hand, and with non self-priming trash pumps and totes in a vans and you can really see the impact she has made.
Many people have ridden along in Truck #3 as a 'seat cover' over the years. But the seat cover who has logged the most hours? Neill's dog Max!
Max hard at work...
