BIG DAY FOR WOR EMPLOYEES!

On Wednesday, February 22, WOR employee Mike Monson became a father for the first time! The labor was smooth and baby boy Jaxon Patrick is doing great! As you can see from Mike's profile picture, he fits into the WOR family perfectly. He can often be found after hours banging away on the drums with fellow WOR employee Pat Hughes.

Also on Wednesday, WOR employees Biff McNeil and Brenda Voshell officially tied the knot. The Mayor of West Grove married them in their home surrounded by a few close friends and WOR honorary employee Hillary (Biff's daughter). This was especially meaningful because Biff's father was once the mayor of West Grove and his mother was a passionate community activist.

The couple has a combined total of six children and resides in West Grove, PA.

CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE!!!

Kenny on his way to Chefdom!

CHEF KENNY!!!

Waste Oil Recyclers' long-time employee Ken Hanson is on his way to becoming an aspiring young chef! Ken was the first WOR employee who was not also an owner. Starting at age 14, Ken had to get his working papers to join us. One of his claims to fame is making giant candles out of grease, one of which was a 55 gallon drum of donut grease.

All of us at WOR are very proud of Kenny and look forward to seeing him excel in his future career. AND we are hoping for some yummy meals prepared by the master!

TRUCK #3 MILESTONE!

Yesterday marked a significant milestone for one of WOR's beloved Trucks.  Truck #3, driven by Neill Heaton, collected her one millionth gallon of Waste Oil!  As busy as we are here at WOR, it would be easy to let an event like this go by without notice, so leave it to one of our fearless leaders, Robert Mastrippolito, to remind us from where we came. Rob personally logged numerous hours and oil collection in Truck #3.  The following is his history lesson about #3 and her significance to the success of this company.

A little history on Truck #3:

She has no name. Just "Truck #3". Because 3 is a magic number.

We bought her in the Summer of 2007 sight unseen ("Hi. do you sell vacuum trucks? Ok. We'd like one. Thanks.")

Jim drove her home from Indiana and straight to my house. His first day driving with air brakes, and he went 800 miles.

She was equipped with 4 50' sections of 2" hose.

Originally the hose was not pre-connected. It was piled up in the trays like a septic truck would haul its hose. We used to connect and disconnect after every stop. It made a huge mess.

We had no NewPig or hand wipes.

It used to take us seven or eight hours to wash her. With cold water in my moms driveway.

We used to use her to load tankers of finished product before we could afford pumps. It involved opening the back valve, letting it drip out overnight into buckets and fishing out all the solids with a coat hanger. Then we'd fill her with 1500 gallons, pump out through a screen into the tanker. Four times to make up a load. It used to take HOURS... Wes can fill a tanker with his pump in about 45 minutes.

Her first week in service involved picking up EVERY single account we had. She did the work in one week that it took us a month to do with the Ford van or the old Iveco flatbed.

One time the wiring for the work lights shorted out and go so hot it melted the air brake lines under the dash and Jimmy had to drive home from Philly at midnight with vise grips and duct tape over as many leaks as possible, and she still kept going and stopping. He also did this with the air seat completely deflated too.

Truck #3 bought and paid for herself, and the other trucks. If it wasnt for Truck 3, Waste Oil Recyclers would be nowhere near what we are at the present time. Imagine picking up all the grease we do by hand, and with non self-priming trash pumps and totes in a vans and you can really see the impact she has made.

Many people have ridden along in Truck #3 as a 'seat cover' over the years. But the seat cover who has logged the most hours?  Neill's dog Max!
                                                                                                           Max hard at work...

New Addition - Please welcome Kay!

Waste Oil Recyclers is excited to welcome Kay, our latest addition and eleventh truck in our fleet!  Kay is named after Vice President and Director of Operations Robert Mastrippolito’s paternal grandmother.  She is a 1998 Ford F-800 and will be equipped with a 600 gallon vacuum unit for VSI.  She and Mary (truck nine) are basically twins and will be used for the same purpose in our service department.  She is going to be professionally converted by a reputable grease conversion company (grease car… you may have heard of them) in the next couple of weeks. The vacuum unit has not been ordered yet, but we expect to see it before the end of the year.  Kay will be out on the road with the rest of the girls before you know it.

Wes Johnson is the Employee of the Month for October!

Shop Manager Wes Johnson is Waste Oil Recycler’s October Employee of the Month!  Wes began his career at Waste Oil Recyclers as the Assistant Shop Manager last winter and has since taken over the role of Shop Manager.  As one of our youngest full-time employees, Wes has embraced his new responsibilities and made a seamless transition to running the shop in a highly organized manner.  With August being a record-setting month for waste oil collection, Wes worked countless hours to keep the product moving as necessary.

Wes attended Avon Grove High School in West Grove and now resides in New London, PA.  He worked for a roofing company for many years and still maintains a close relationship with his former employer.  It is clear that Wes is on the MoGreena property when country music can be heard blaring and his impeccably clean Harley Davidson is parked nearby. (Notice WOR kitty 'Staples' catching some shade underneath.)

Wes hopes to be able to purchase a diesel pickup truck in the near future and is always interested in learning more about engines of any kind. In his spare time, Wes enjoys playing cards with friends, and can often be found at Numzee’s Tavern in Oxford on Thursday evenings.  The Waste Oil Recyclers family is proud to call Wes one of our own.
